Arianna Fantin was born in Bologna in 1986. She studied scenic and costume design at either Torino’s and Bologna’s Accademia di Belle Arti. During her first years of study, she had the occasion of making different educational experiences in Italy and abroad. One of the most important is the one year internship at the Fondazione Pistoletto – Cittadellarte in Biella, one of the most interesting realities at either national and international level. In 2008 she had been selected in the cultural exchange program Erasmus to study at the Department of Scenic and Costume Design of the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee in Germany. The year after Berlin became the city where she is already living in. There she continued her studies in the same Academy until her graduation, in the summer of 2012, with the thesis Il costume in movimento (Kostüme in Bewegung, bewegte Kostüme). She has been working in Berlin for several years as a freelance costumer and designer, particularly for contemporary dance production, majoring in the relationship between costume and moving body. She also works for Maiami, a young Berlin brand that produces handmade knitwear and accessories. In 2009, on the occasion of a group exhibit at the W.I.R. Gallery in Berlin, she starts to develop a really personalised artistic figurative language, working chiefly with embroidery. She realises hand embroidered artist’s books, tapestry and illustrations, knitting works and a series of performative acts always connected to wire and the action of embroidery. Arianna Fantin made exhibitions in several Italian galleries and on January of 2011 she launched her fist solo exhibit during the fair Arte Fiera Off, Il filo di Arianna, in an exhibition space in Bologna, eLaSTiCo.
On the occasion of the exhibition at the MLB in Ferrara, Arianna Fantin for the first time as Artisane, using a collective noun, intends to support shared artistic practices between young artists and to spread a shared point of view.
