Timothy Tompkins

Artista

Timothy Tompkins was born in Long Beach (California) in 1967 and now lives and works in Los Alamitos. Banal objects and furnishings without history, identified among the remnants/leftover of the shelves of hypermarkets, are assembled and photographed by the young artist from California in compositions that recall the tradition of the still life.
These photographs, digitally simplified to a reduced range of colors to abstract them, are then reproduced by painting them on aluminum plates. The result is a layering of liquid industrial paints which are arranged for chromatic isles, indefinite nei contorni like the images recalled from memory.
Both artists everyday objects that have no history or aesthetic dignity are set in history and take up an allmost sacred character even though just for a moment within their lives, be it a domestic or a consumistic life it is.
