The artist has developed a series of packages of
“make-up sweets”, to delicately make up in the couple
relationship. From she/him recipes and breastbeignets
to the lip pudding applied on the lips with a
make-up brush, to be transfered with a kiss. In “virtual
dinner” two women sitting around a table served by
a male and a female figure, order food to wear and
items to eat: a woman’s legs as second course and the
“feet ice lolly” as dessert. Because if “we are what we
eat, we could also be the opposite”
Stefano Scheda, a teacher responsible for “Strategies of invention” course at the Academy of Arts in Bologna, has created a performance around the dressing of a model with three coloured pastry, evoking the Italian flag. These then slowly collapse leaving the model naked: a metaphor to
represent the loss of identity and an invitation to re-establish it.
Giulia Bonora - dinner as relationship
Surprise-dishes and relational tools
The artist from Ferrara, who after the Academy of
Bologna continued her formation as food designer
in The Netherlands, has created “Surprise dishes”
that, during the dinner, reveal a hidden terracotta
course. In the “Co-diners” performance, dishes,
spoons and movements are connected by an elastic
band that inevitably ties everyone in the action
of tasting: a wonderful, surprising metaphor of
relationships at the table, where the diner becomes
artist and playing a funny conceptual “game
dimitri tsykalov - Memento Mori at the table
The Russian artist, whose studio is situated in the Rothschild Foundation in Paris, carves fruits and vegetables with exquisite accuracy in a performance that has the flavour of an intense modern memento mori. Apples, watermelons, aubergines, in the hands of Dimitri become food for our soul.
